The car must be 100% right before you buy it
Bilråd.dk is personal and independent help buying and selling a used car.
Meet Frederik, our founder
Frederik has many years of experience buying used cars and finding faults, and he finds the faults an ordinary test drive doesn't reveal.
We know the weak spots of the model and year you're considering in advance. At the car we check for rust, test drive alone to listen for noises, and finally scan the car with our own PC systems.
How we check the car
Scroll down and see each check step by step: from the rust under the door to the paperwork and the guarantee.
- Check 1 of 6
Rust and bodywork
We check the underside, wings, doors and the places where that exact model tends to rust.
- Floor and underbody are checked for rust and earlier repairs.
- Sills, wings and wheel arches, where rust often starts.
- The model's typical rust spots get an extra careful look.
- Hidden damage: we look for signs of repainting and welding.

Noises
We test drive the car alone and listen to the engine, gearbox, wheel bearings, suspension and brakes.
- The engine from a cold start, where many faults are easiest to hear.
- Gearbox and clutch: does it shift smoothly, and does the clutch bite right?
- Wheel bearings and underbody: humming and knocks over turns and bumps.
- Brakes and steering: does the car pull, or does the wheel shake?

Advanced PC diagnostics
We connect our PC to the car and read what the engine control unit has stored.
- Fault codes in the engine control unit, including ones the seller didn't mention.
- Cleared fault codes: we can see signs that codes were cleared recently.
- Live engine data such as pressure and temperature while the engine runs.
- Mileage in the ECU is compared with the odometer.

The paperwork
Inspection reports, service history, debt on the car and a sales contract without errors. Everything is checked.
- MOT reports: remarks and mileage at every test.
- Service history: has the car been looked after, and has the timing belt or chain been changed?
- Debt on the car is checked, so you don't take over someone else's loan.
- The sales contract is reviewed so there are no errors.
- Check 6 of 6
Peace-of-mind guarantee
If the inspection shows faults so we advise against buying the car, we check one new car for you at no extra cost. The guarantee applies at the inspection, not after the purchase.
- Applies to physical inspection and complete buying help.
- One new car is checked at no extra cost, once per agreement.
- Not after the purchase: faults that show up later aren't covered.
